    Dr. Moore Joins Scientific Advisory Board of Cera Products Incorporated
    • Dr. Roscoe M. Moore Jr. has been selected by Cera Products Inc. to join its Scientific Advisory Board. The Scientific Advisory Board will address key health issues during the coming year, relating to nutritional needs among people with HIV/AIDS, Cancer, and Diabetes. These specific areas are ones in which Dr. Moore has specific expertise and experience. Established in 1993, Cera Products Inc. is a privately held company with a commercial rice-based medical rehydration therapy (CeraLyte) which prevents and corrects dehydration from acute and chronic diarrhea. CeraLyte, its rice-based oral rehydration therapy (ORS) is used around the globe in hospitals, nursing homes, as well as in U.S Military medical kits, and field medical facilities and hospitals. CeraLyte is gluten free with no added sugar. Dr. Moore, former Assistant United States Surgeon General, has specific experience under three U.S. Presidential Administrations in the use of oral rehydration as a modality in complex natural and man-made disasters globally.

    Dr. Moore Appointed Senior Advisor for Sisters Network Inc.!
    • Dr. Roscoe M. Moore Jr., former Assistant United States Surgeon General has been appointed Senior Advisor for Sisters Network Incorporated by Ms. Karen E. Jackson, Founder and CEO. Sisters Network Inc. (www.sistersnetworkinc.org) is a leading voice and the only national African American breast cancer survivorship organization. Presently, the organization has more than 43 affiliate chapters located in 23 states. Ms. Jackson is a member of the Advocacy Relations Breast Cancer Advisory Board of Genentech Incorporated. Dr. Moore has extensive experience and expertise in the cancer field. He directed the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Program and was Assistant Professor of Oncology within the Howard University College of Medicine Cancer Center. American Black women are the most likely to die from the breast cancer, although American White women have the highest incidence rate.  Dr. Moore will expand clinical research participation by Sisters Network Inc. nationally and globally.

    Dr. Moore Acknowledged as the “Father of Medical Device Epidemiology”
    • Dr. Roscoe M. Moore Jr. speaking before the first new series of Epidemiology Grand Rounds sponsored by the Division of Epidemiology, Center for (Medical) Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on October 27, 2011 was acknowledged as the "Father of Medical Device Epidemiology". Dr. Moore was recognized for his pioneering efforts to create the first Epidemiology Branch (now the Division of Epidemiology) within CDRH/FDA in 1987, and for his launching of the first medical device epidemiology training program within the U.S. Public Health Service. Dr. Moore is the former Assistant United States Surgeon General and the former Chief Epidemiologist for Medical Devices and Radiological Health, FDA.

    Dr. Moore Joins Board of Directors for Health People: Community Preventive Health Institute
    • Dr. Roscoe M. Moore Jr. has joined the Board of Directors for Health People: Community Preventive Health Institute. The Institute is based in the South Bronx, New York. It started in 1990 as a women’s AIDS prevention and support program. It has grown to provide a full range of HIV/AIDS and other services [asthma, diabetes and other chronic conditions] for men, women and families. The Institute is an independent nonprofit organization. Dr. Moore while serving as Assistant United States Surgeon General was responsible for HIV/AIDS programs in cooperation with the Agency for International Development (USAID) in 40 countries on the Continent of Africa.

    Dr. Moore Joins Board of Directors of Biodefense Gamma LLC
    • Former Assistant United States Surgeon General Roscoe M. Moore Jr. has joined the Board of Directors of Biodefense Gamma LLC which is based in Washington DC. Biodefense Gamma LLC is a privately held company which specializes in novel purified gamma globulin therapy for a number of infectious diseases. The term, gamma globulin, refers to the fraction of blood plasma that contains immunoglobulins or antibodies. Dr. Moore has extensive knowledge and experience in the use of purified gamma globulin as a counter measure for potential biological threats to individuals.

    Dr. Moore Elected Chair of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
    • On June 15, 2011, Dr. Roscoe M. Moore, Jr. was elected the new Chair of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. Dr. Moore has been a member of the WSSC Commission representing Montgomery County, Maryland since 2008. Dr. Moore said: “I look forward to support from my fellow commissioners to continue our oversight of a utility that is respected for its fairness in business dealings, its efficiency and competency in operations, and its considerations of decisions designed to keep the utility in step with technological innovations and providing excellent service to our customers.” Dr. Moore is an internationally recognized Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with extensive experience and credentials in epidemiology. He retired from the U.S. Public Health Service with the rank of Rear Admiral. He previously served on the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture and the Maryland Health Care Commission. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for Montgomery General Hospital and was President of the Friends of the National Zoo. Six Commissioners govern the WSSC, which has an annual $1.192 billion operating and capital budget. Three Commissioners are residents from Montgomery County and three are residents from Prince George’s County. The Commissioners are appointed to four-year terms by their respective county executives and are confirmed by their county councils.

    Dr. Moore Joins Scientific Advisory Board for VectraCor Incorporated
    • Former Assistant United States Surgeon General Roscoe M. Moore Jr. has been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of VectraCor Incorporated. VectraCor is a medical device company located in Totowa, New Jersey with disruptive technology in the cardiovascular space. Cardiovascular Disease is the number one killer in the world, and the need to improve the detection of heart attack-Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is crucial. The current emergency room practice for chest pain evaluation is to connect the patient to a monitor (with 3-5 electrodes), then connect an additional ElectroCardioGram (ECG) with an additional 10 electrodes, and then draw blood to measure important biomarkers, which is repeated every 6-hours during a 18-24 hour period. VectraCor reports to detect an AMI within seconds, resulting in reduced cost and time for detection, which potentially can save lives. Therefore, VectraCor's patented technology is extremely important to both patient and clinician. Dr. Moore has over 30 years of professional experience, and served as the Chief Epidemiologist with the Center for (Medical) Devices and Radiological Health within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He has authored or co-authored 100 publications on a broad range of public health issues.
